Experienced Technician
Lead commercial low-voltage projects while mentoring apprentices. Join a growing team installing structured cabling, fiber, AV, and network systems with room to advance.
Position summary
The Experienced Technician is a journey-level field professional responsible for independently performing installation, termination, testing, labeling, troubleshooting, and closeout activities across structured cabling, fiber, audiovisual, network, and other low-voltage systems. The role serves as the on-site lead for CIS at assigned jobsites, directing daily work, coordinating with the crew and general contractor, mentoring apprentices, and owning workmanship quality and work-order closeout.
Key responsibilities
Independently install, terminate, test, label, and troubleshoot structured cabling, fiber, AV, network, and low-voltage systems.
Read construction drawings, schematics, and prints; lay out work accurately from plans and field conditions.
Lead the assigned crew on site and serve as CIS's primary field point of contact for the general contractor and project stakeholders.
Assign daily tasks, monitor progress, verify completed work, and maintain jobsite productivity.
Mentor apprentices and less-experienced technicians through hands-on training, direction, and quality oversight.
Ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project specifications, codes, standards, and company expectations.
Perform testing, documentation, punch-list resolution, and final closeout for assigned work orders.
Capture and submit required progress photos and end-of-day notes through the company CRM.
Work location and reporting
This is a field-based role reporting directly to the assigned jobsite rather than to a company office.
There is no daily base-office muster and no group travel from a base location.
Technicians report individually to the designated check-in point at the jobsite, typically the main entrance.
Assignments and work orders are issued and tracked through the internal CRM.
